Would it surprise you to know that in Japan, doctors are known to prescribe forest bathing (aka "shinrin-yoku") to reduce stress and promote physical and mental wellness? That's right - if you're feeling blue, go green! Studies have shown that immersing yourself in nature can reduce stress, anxiety, and negativity. Nature helps you to feel more connected and a part of something greater than just yourself. The gentle breeze that sways the leaves of a tree, the nurturing chirps of a bird that calm your nervous system, and the nourishment that your eyes take in with the contrasting saturated colors is enough to make you want to stay forever. Another way to calm and nurture yourself is to bring nature to you! Having certain plants in your home, such as lavender (can be calming), jasmine (may have mood-enhancing benefits), snake plants (can improve air quality), and the moth orchid (phalaenopsis - symbolizing love, refinement, and beauty) are all calming choices for your nervous-system-reset. Always remember to check that the plant(s) that you choose are compatible with your pets, as some may not be. No matter what, let's find ways to uplift and inspire the mind, body, and soul back into balance. As always, wishing you clarity and wellness!
